Does CBD help against Acne?

Does CBD helps against Acne?

CBD or cannabidiol  is a representative non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid which has been proved to exert universal anti-inflammatory properties.

As you may be know  Acne is a common skin condition that happens when hair follicles under the skin become clogged. Acne vulgaris, a chronic inflammatory skin disease involving the pilosebaceous unit, is one of the most common diseases in dermatology that affects 80–85% of individuals globally.

There are 7 different types of acne. This disease can be triggered by various reasons, but the most common occurs in adolescents is hormonal.

Acne is largely a hormonal condition that’s driven by androgen hormones, which typically become active during the teenage and young adult years. Sensitivity to these hormones — combined with surface bacteria on the skin and fatty acids within oil glands — can result in acne.

Since the causes of acne are inflammatory and hormonal processes in our body, CBD copes well with them.

Conclusion of the studies

Both of the scientific articles above says that CBD has the anti-acne property and a potent novel therapeutic approach for acne.

CBD oil helps reduce various types of acne thanks to its ability to adjust how the body creates sebum. Sebum is a waxy, oily substance the skin makes. CBD oil also has anti-inflammatory properties.

They also revealed that the CBD oil triggered an anti-inflammatory reaction in the cells and prevented inflammatory cytokines from activating. Cytokines may trigger acne, so reducing them may help prevent further breakouts.
