How long CBD components remain in our body depends on how much we take them and in what quantity. Β As with food – if you eat regularly, in the right portions, and the food that is well digested, you will not need to snack on sandwiches to satisfy your hunger.

CBD can stay in a person’s system from hours to about a month.Β

According to Dr. Johnson-Arbor – the medical director of Hyperbaric Medicine in the Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, how long CBD stays in your system can depend on various factors.

5 FactorsΒ That Affect How Long CBD Stays in Your System
  1. How and What you eat
  2. Medications Processed in the Liver and Liver Disease
  3. Frequency of Use
  4. How Much You Use
  5. Type of CBD Administration

Let’s look more specifically at what each of these points means.

Factor 1: What to eat for CBD to be absorbed well? After consuming a high-fat meal, higher levels of CBD are typically present in the bloodstream, making its half-life (the time it takes for half the amount of a substance to be eliminated from the body) longer than in individuals who consume CBD while fasting. In other words, if you consume CBD on an empty stomach and don’t eat immediately, CBD is more likely to leave your system sooner. Meanwhile, eating high-fat foods, such as avocados, cheese and nuts, can have the opposite effect. One 2019 study also found CBD exposure and absorption increases significantly when paired with high-fat foods.

Factor 2: What medication slower metabolism? Since CBD is metabolized by the liver, people with liver disease or who take other medications that are metabolized by the liver may have altered metabolism of CBD. The human liver contains enzymes that help the body break down medications and other compounds, and some medications can increase or decrease the activity of these enzymes. Since CBD is metabolized by liver enzymes, there can be a potential drug interaction with many other medications.

Factor 3: How often should I take CBD oil? If you use CBD frequently, it can build up over time and stay in your system longer, largely because CBD is highly soluble in fat.

Factor 4: How much should I take CBD? The more CBD you take at once, the longer it stays in your system. The fact is Β that different people respond to different dosages of CBD. Most of the human studies use dosages anywhere between 20 and 1,500 milligrams (mg) per day.

Factor 5: What type of consuming CBD is better? The way in which you consume CBD can impact how long it stays in your system. According to a 2018 review, CBD oil can stay in your system longerΒ thanΒ other CBD products. CBD oil stays in our bodyΒ up to two to five days. CBD (and other cannabinoids) are fat soluble, which means that they can accumulate in fat tissue after chronic use and then be released back slowly into the blood for elimination from the body that is why the CBD oil absorb betterΒ thanΒ other type of CBD.Β
